I honestly can’t believe how fast the weekends go by. Fall will be here in a blink of an eye. On Friday evening we went to our friends new house for dinner. It was so great to catch up with them. I don’t think I have seen them for a year. They also have two daughters so Kenna loves having friends to play with. She is always excited when she has friends to play with. At our friends house we had some of the best food I have eaten in a long time. It was delicious. We had steak, sweet corn with lime and Parmesan, grilled potatoes, salad made with veggies from their garden, and an amazing homemade salad dressing. Then to top it off root-beer floats for dessert. Holy cow I was stuffed when we left. I was worried about putting Kenna to sleep with no nap and for the fact it was two hours past her bed time, but I guess sleeping is a lot more fun when you have cute new pjs. Kenna and I found these cute pjs at a garage sale earlier in the week.
Saturday I woke up crabby. First our coffee pot broke and then our umbrella for our patio broke. I was so excited to use the patio on Saturday morning, with the chickens finally gone and our umbrella wouldn’t work. I am telling you I was having zero luck on Saturday morning. Luckily Travis found our tiny back up coffee pot that someone gave me for a gift for my classroom. Then my handy-dandy husband was also able to fix the umbrella. It doesn’t close all the way, but at least it opens. At noon we headed to our friend’s going away party. She got a new job in Milwaukee and we are going to miss her a ton. After our first party we dropped Kenna and Emmy off at my parents house. My dad and step mom watched them overnight for us. A whole night to ourselves. It is so weird when I do not have the girls with me, I always feel like I am missing something. After we dropped of the girls we went to our friends David and Erin’s annual bean bag tourney. It is such a great idea. Everyone comes with a dish to pass and their own beverages. Once you get there you put your name in a hat and pay a small entry fee. They randomly select teams and the games begin. I think it is awesome that they randomly select teams so nobody tries to stack their team and it is a great way to meet new people. My team lost right away, so I got to sit around, eat, drink, and cheer other teams on. Not a bad gig. Throughout the night we ended up playing more bean bags and games. I got paired along side my friend Michele during some of the games and she made me laugh so hard. She is so funny:). Overall it was such a great night with great friends. Travis and I are very lucky.
With the girls gone you think I would be able to finally catch up on sleep on Sunday, but nope I was up at 7 AM. As soon as I wake up I instantly miss the girls. It is eerie how quiet the house is and how there is nothing going on. Once Trav got up we went for a walk and then got ready for church. At church we met my dad, step mom, my sister, and the girls. I was so excited to see them. After church we headed to Willow River for a picnic and walk. At Willow River they are draining the lake to fix the dam and it looks so different. It is kind of sad that there will not be a lake there anymore. Hopefully they eventually dam it back up. It was such a fun spot for the kids to swim. After that we ran a couple errands and then finally we made it home to relax. Just like that another weekend flew past. What is your favorite thing to grill? I am pretty sure steak is my favorite.
